Archie Rose Distilling Co has launched two new spirits, Sunrise Lime Gin Harvest 2020 and Eau De Bee Honey Spirit, paying testament to its ethos of celebrating local ingredients through innovative distilling technology.
Sunrise Lime Gin Harvest 2020 is the second spirit from Archie Rose’s annual Harvest series that celebrates the bounty and diversity of Australia’s annual crops, in the follow up to its Poorman’s Orange Gin Harvest 2019 which sold out in ten months.
This year’s Harvest Gin heroes native sunrise lime, a hybrid citrus fruit grown by at Marvick Native Farms in Western Australia. Sunrise lime takes the lead delivering distinctive aromas of herbaceous yet vibrant lime, and is complemented by unripe orange zest and mandarin peel. It’s a gin bursting with generous citrus and flavours of kumquat, spearmint and mango.
Heeding its ethos of working with local producers who focus on sustainability and understand the impact of their growing, harvesting and processing methods, the annual Harvest Series heroes the growers, providores, and regions as a true expression of the ingredients and provenance behind its spirits.
Archie Rose’s experimental release, Eau De Bee Honey Spirit, has been similarly inspired by the quality and diversity of Australia’s native flora. An eau de vie which has distilled Blue Gum honey from Beechworth Honey in Victoria, the result is a beautiful honey spirit giving soft, creamy notes of golden syrup, crème fraîche, elderflower and cherry ripe, followed by a dazzling display of delicate florals and stone fruit.
For those who like an eau de vie, rum or brandy, Eau De Bee Honey Spirit showcases the complex array of flavours offered by a Blue Gum Honey while also honouring the bees that pollinate a wealth of biodiversity, with 10 per cent of proceeds from its website sales donated to Wheen Bee Foundation, Australia's leading bee charity.
“These two new releases are fantastic expressions of the Australian environment and the breadth of incredible native ingredients we are lucky enough to have access to, and are only made possible by our new copper vacuum stills which allow us to cold distil botanicals to extract the absolute best from them,” says Archie Rose founder, Will Edwards.
“One of the perks of our fascination with using the best quality Australian produce, is establishing meaningful relationships with growers,” says Master Distiller, Dave Withers.
“Having that relationship with the land via the grower forces us to stay in tune with the cycles of the season and the harvest itself. It is a constant reminder that great produce is the result of a year's work of toil by both the grower and the land.”
