Last year, Ara was awarded Best Wine and Best White Wine at 2022 WinePilot Zero Alcohol Wine Show in Sydney last year and its producer, Giesen, was named Best Winemaker. And later in the year, Ara scored 95 points at the 2022 International Wine and Spirits competition.
Now the New Zealand non-alc wine is on sale exclusively at Coles and the range includes a Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé made from carefully selected wine parcels.
At last year's awards presentation, Duncan Shouler, Chief Winemaker Giesen said: “The Giesen Group winemaking team have had a vision from the outset to make exceptional alcohol-removed wines. From sourcing particular parcels of our finest New Zealand fruit in the vineyards, to a dedicated team just working on our spinning cone technology, there’s no stone left unturned. These wines are made with the same care and commitment as our regular premium wines but talk to the growing consumer appetite for healthier beverage alternatives."
Ara wines are made as a full-strength, premium New Zealand wine, but the aroma and alcohol are gently removed using advanced spinning cone technology. The winemaking team then combines the delicate aroma back into the wine, resulting in a delicious no-alcohol wine with low calories**.
Senior Winemaker, Jeremy Tod says, “We hear many people say you can’t make no-alcohol wines that taste good, but they just haven’t tasted Ara Select Blocks Zero! We’re very proud of our award-winning wines and are delighted to have them in Coles so more people can discover them.”
Tasting notes:
Ara Select Blocks Zero Sauvignon Blanc (NV): Classic citrus and passionfruit notes with a crisp finish, this alcohol-removed wine exhibits all the typical Sauvignon Blanc characteristics in every sip.
Ara Select Blocks Zero Rosé (NV): Made from aromatic and red varietals and bursting with stone fruit, apple and fresh strawberries, it's an off-dry style with a refreshing finish. Serve chilled.
Both varietals retails for $19.00 and are now available at Coles. All Ara wines are certified Vegan friendly with Vegetarian Society UK.
