Campari Australia has begun integrating the sales, marketing and distribution of Averna into its portfolio. The integration follows Gruppo Campari’s global acquisition of Fratelli Averna S.p.A. (Averna Group) in 2014.

Averna is an authentic Italian digestif which is deep brown in colour with red-golden hints. It was created by Benedictine monks in Caltanissetta, Sicily and gifted to textile merchant Salvatore Averna by friar Fra’ Girolamo in 1868.

While its unique blend is known only to a selected few, Averna is created from an infusion of aromatic herbs, natural spices and roots. The only known ingredients of Averna are citrus essential oils (orange and lemon) and pomegranate, which define a smooth taste and unmistakable aroma.

Opening citrus notes mixed with scents of Mediterranean herbs such as myrtle, juniper, rosemary, sage and aromatic resins give this digestif a velvety and rounded texture, leaving a pleasantly smooth after-taste.

Averna is 29% ABV and is traditionally served either neat or on the rocks.

It will be available exclusively from Campari Australia from 1 January 2016 priced at $45.00 RRP for a 700ml bottle.

Managing Director of Campari Asia Pacific, Mr. Franco Peroni, said the company was excited to be adding this iconic Italian brand to its portfolio.

“Averna is well aligned with Campari’s on-going commitment to deliver the very best premium brands and service to our customers and consumers. We look forward to working with our trade customers to build the profile of this brand in the Australian market over the coming years,” Mr. Peroni said.
