Yesterday, Champagne Lallier released the latest iteration of its Réflexion range, the R.020, at an exclusive trade event put on as part of the Biennale of Sydney.
The R.020 is the tenth instalment of Lallier’s Réflexion range and the first blended by Lallier’s new Cellar Master and General Manager Dominique Demarville.
“I am very proud to reveal this new cuvée to the world,” said Demarville.
“In R.020 brut multi-vintage cuvée, we aim to show a representation of the year 2020, which was a fruitful one in Champagne, and of course the perfect balance between the four atmospheres of Lallier’s style: freshness, purity, intensity and depth.”
A multi-vintage blend, the R.020 is composed of 81% grapes harvested from the 2020 vintage, 10% of grapes harvested in 2019, and 9% grapes harvested in 2018. According to Demarville, “2020 was another exceptional harvest in quality after 2018 and 2019. Champagne, the region, had an average yield in 2020 with healthy grapes produced. Nature, which went undisturbed due to the unusual environment at that time, flourished greatly. The dry and sunny summer resulted in an early harvest, delivering intense and fresh grapes presenting a high maturity – perfect for what we were looking for to create exquisite wine.”
The R.020 is made up of 51% Chardonnay and 49% Pinot Noir, marking the first time that Chardonnay has led out Pinot Noir as the dominant variety in a Réflexion Champagne since the range was launched in 2014. The dosage of the R.020 remains low at 7 grams per litre, in line with Lallier philosophy.
Forming part of Campari’s recently launched House of RARE portfolio, Champagne Lallier R.020 brut multi-vintage cuvée is being distributed nationwide by Campari Australia and is available for purchase via houseofrare.com.au, wine.qantas.com and select boutique retailers at an RRP of $95.
