Coopers has released the winning DIY beer in its Master of the Brewniverse competition, Fruit of the Woods IPA by brewer Chris Woods.

The American IPA is an ode to Wood’s family with a dad and grandad both having been avid DIY brewers. The beer features tropical and citrus fruit from the generous use of new world hops, leaving a fruit forward punch.

It was created using Coopers DIY Beer's Australian Pale Ale brewing extract.

“I love all things beer, looking at it, smelling, tasting and talking about it to anyone who’ll listen, and of course the art of brewing it,” said Woods.

Woods’ winning recipe was brewed and canned at Coopers Brewery and will hit the shelves of Dan Murphy’s nationally from mid-May.

“While there were many extremely good beers at the nationals, Wood’s was a standout," said Dave Medlyn, Technical Brewer, Coopers Brewery. "It is a great representation of an IPA which features five hop varieties, oats and honey, and, most importantly, it is very drinkable.

“We’re launching this winning brew at a strange time, when you can’t get to your local for a pint. The beauty of Coopers DIY Beer is that anyone can have a go and we hope that Chris’ win may inspire other beer lovers to take up this (very rewarding) hobby,” added Emma Craggs, Brand Manager, Coopers Brewery.
