Since first launching to market in 1982, De Bortoli’s Noble One has established itself as the benchmark for Australian dessert wine both domestically and internationally.
The recent release of vintage 2020 is set to further this legacy, having already received two trophies and nine gold medals along with being named the Best Sweet White of the Year in the 2024 Halliday Wine Companion Awards.
Noble One has been made by the De Bortoli winemaking team led by Julie Mortlock, Senior Winemaker, since 2000.
"We've come a long way,” said Mortlock.
“Despite these hurdles, the 2020 Noble One's reception is truly humbling.”
The 2020 vintage displays a velvety stone fruit base, with citrus, honeyed fruits and vanilla oak interlaced throughout. All the fruit is sourced from the Riverina from both a long standing grower of De Bortoli Wines Botrytis and from one De Bortoli’s Estate Vineyards.
The 2020 vintage featured a relatively dry winter with late spring rains followed by more rains in January and February, initiating the onset of Botrytis. Harvest began on 18 March, the second earliest Noble One harvest in the wine’s 42 year history.
De Bortoli Noble One can be enjoyed on release or will continue to develop in complexity over the next several decades.
