Flor de Caña Australian launch
Drinks Trade had a fantastic night at the Australian launch of the super-premium Flor de Caña V Generaciones, a 30-year-old, ultra-luxury rum aged in a single barrel since 1988.
Flor de Caña is the super-premium rum brand from Nicaragua with one of the largest aged rum reserves in the world, and one of the first global spirit brands to be Fair Trade certified.
The 30-year-old ultra-luxury rum is the oldest release from the brand to date, with only a limited number of bottles available worldwide, valued at over $2500 each.
The rum was launched in Sydney at Restaurant Hubert for the very first time in the Southern Hemisphere, and only the third global launch, having been previously launched in Miami and Milan.
In attendance at the event Don Carlos Pellas, Flor de Caña owner and Nicaragua’s first billionaire (the company has been in the family for five generations). Also on hand was Raul Burgalin (Global Brand Ambassador), Rob Scott (Brand Ambassador, South-East Asia), Merlin Jerebine (Brand Ambassador, Australia) and Pierre Pinault (Area Manager, Asia-Pacific).
Released ahead of Flor de Caña’s 130th anniversary in 2020, the 30-year-old rum bottle features the signatures of the five family generations behind Flor de Caña, a bottle cap made from volcanic rock and a replica of the iconic 1902 volcano postal stamp of Nicaragua.
Flor de Caña has earned over 200 international awards and recognitions in the last 10 years, including “World’s Best Rum Distillery” by the International Rum Conference in 2019 and “Global Rum Producer of the Year” by the International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2017.
