Award-winning Tasmanian gin, Three Cuts Gin has launched in the American market; the first Tasmanian gin to do so.

Three Cuts' owner and distiller Justin Turner grew up on his family's winery in California and his family also produced brandy and other spirits.  He moved from New York City to his wife's home of Tasmania in 2018, leaving behind a career in high finance and instead returning to his family origins to found the distillery, Turner Stillhouse.

Last year, Turner's Three Cuts Gin Distiller’s Release won the Best In Category (Double Gold) for International Contemporary Gin at the 2021 American Distilling Institute Awards. At last year's Australian Gin Awards, Three Cuts Distiller's Release won Best In Class - Best Australian Gin and this year its Pinot Barrel Rested Gin was awarded Best In Class in the Matured Gin Category.

Turner said: “It’s fantastic to receive this accolade from the Australian Gin Awards. As someone who loves golden-era whisky based cocktails, I wanted to create a more robust style of gin that could be used in place of whisky or dark spirits and I think we’ve achieved what we set out to."

The Pinot Barrel Rested gin also won Gold 96 Points at the 2022 International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC – #2 Best in the World), and the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Turner now works side-by-side with Co-Distiller, Brett Coulson, formerly of James Boag's Brewery, and the duo have plans to release whisky, rum and other selected spirits in the future.

Three Cuts Gin is now available in most American states via online retailer lovescotch.com, meaning USA-based gin lovers can now have a taste of Tasmania delivered direct to their door.
