Husk Distillers is releasing a limited edition rum to celebrate the 150th anniversary of its hometown of the village of Tumbulgum in NSW. 1866 Tumbulgum Rum will be launched as part of the Tweed River Festival in Tumbulgum on November 12.

The first bottle of 1866 Tumbulgum Rum will be auctioned online, with proceeds donated to the Tumbulgum Community Association to continue improving and enriching village life.

Husk Distillers, Australia’s only plantation rum distillery, adds an Australian twist to their agricole (cane juice) rum, using malt whisky distillation methods with first press virgin cane juice crushed from sugar cane grown at their Tumbulgum plantation.

1866 Tumbulgum Rum blends three-year-old paddock to bottle rum made from the 2013 harvest of the Founder’s Plot at Husk Plantation and is aged in new American oak and ex-bourbon barrels.

Bottle 001 of 1866 Tumbulgum Rum is sure to become a collector’s item based on the high demand of Husk Distillers’ other award-winning rums; its previous release, Husk Double Barrel Aged single cask sipping rum, sold out in just 72 hours!

The auction link can be found at here. The bidding is already up to $550 with the Tweed Regional Museum in the mix.

General sales will be available shortly after the winning bidder is announced at the Tweed River Festival this weekend.
