Hendrick's Gin launches Midsummer Solstice

Hendrick’s Gin has celebrated the launch of Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice by transforming Sydney’s iconic pub the Paddo Inn with a one-of-its-kind takeover.

The new small-batch, limited-edition gin - the first innovation in Australia since launching its flagship gin over 20 years ago - is a floral incarnation of the original Hendrick’s Gin recipe.

The takeover sees Paddo Inn renamed for the first time to Paddo (G)inn with the venue artfully transformed by local flower artist, Dr Lisa Cooper, as a tribute to the sensory powers of the Midsummer Solstice and secret selection of exquisite floral essences.

Translating the floral notes of Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice under guidance and inspiration from Hendrick’s Master Distiller, Lesley Gracie, Cooper has created an extraordinary flower installation.

Drinks Trade was there for the stunning launch party, which included quirky entertainers embodying the spirit of Hendricks, fabulous decor and delicious nibbles including miniature sausages on dollops of mash.

Throughout the month Paddo (G)inn will feature specialty Midsummer Solstice cocktails and menu’s including the Most Unusual Lunch, a two-hour bottomless lunch.

As part of its floral celebration, Hendrick’s Gin is offering Sydneysiders the opportunity to be among the first to try the new expression with a special cocktail, designed to make the most of Sydney’s summer drinking scene, with deeply floral notes at its heart. Sydneysiders can collect a rose stem from various locations on October 5 from curious Victoriana characters frolicking the street in Surry Hills, Bondi and Paddington.

Consumers can swap their botanical bouquet for a complimentary Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice Spritz, at participating venues including The Bucket List and The Winery, as well as Paddo (G)inn.

Dr Lisa Cooper, Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice ambassador, said; “It would not be a Hendrick’s Gin affair without unusualness and curiosity. Following conversations with Master Distiller, Lesley Gracie around the composition of summer blooms she has distilled in this extraordinary gin, I knew I must create a spectacle, a manifestation of summer!

"It has been utterly thrilling to translate the ambience, complexity and beauty of this wonderful gin, in order for it to be seen, touched and experienced in all its exquisite, sensory glory.”

Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice will be available for a limited time in 2019 and is available for purchase in liquor stores and bars nationally.
