Malbec World Day is just around the corner – April 17, and now in its fifth year, the internationally recognised day is expected to be bigger than ever with consumers around the world.

Malbec World Day is a global initiative undertaken by Wines of Argentina – the government organisation behind the promotion of Argentinean wine worldwide, to promote, celebrate and recognise the varietal’s prominence and popularity around the world and particularly in Australia.

While malbec has experienced remarkable growth in many countries, the varietal has experienced the most growth in Oceania – Australia currently has the highest growth rate in volume for malbec in the Asia-Pacific region.

This year, to celebrate the varietal’s growing popularity and to help further promote Argentinean wines, the Embassy of Argentina has collaborated with Wine of Australia on World Malbec Day events in both Melbourne and Sydney.

World Malbec Day events will be held in Melbourne on April 17 (www.bottleshopconcepts.com/gauchitogil/tickets/) and Sydney on April 29 (www.malbecworldaysydney.eventbrite.com.au). Events in both cities will include tastings different types of malbec, as well as Argentinean food, dancing and music. While worldwide, over 70 events will be hosted in 64 cities and 50 countries.
