At-home dining business Merivale at Home is launching in Melbourne next month, with further expansion planned around Australia.
Delivering almost-ready meals, wine and pre-batched cocktails, Merivale at Home will give Melbournians the opportunity to try dishes from the group’s restaurants, including Mr. Wong, Fred’s, Bert’s Bar & Brasserie, Felix, Jimmy’s Falafel and Totti’s.
Merivale at Home launched in Sydney in April, to create new employment opportunities and help maintain a livelihood for staff and suppliers during the lockdown of hospitality venues.
The business has continued to grow as local restrictions have eased, with fresh menus and more restaurants added. Merivale has plans to expand the business into urban hubs across the country and is set to announce new additions to its Sydney service soon.
Justin Hemmes, CEO of Merivale, said: “Merivale At Home had been in the works for a while before COVID hit, but we fast-tracked the operations so we could deliver it at a time when our Sydney guests needed it most”.
“We have always had amazing guests from Victoria at our venues, so our expansion into Melbourne was a natural progression. Our southern friends are doing it really tough right now - we hope that we can help with the comfort and joy of great meals from our best chefs. Dining is so often at the heart of social connection and community; it has been amazing to hear so many stories of special moments around the dinner table during this time.
“Our supply chain has been hit hard on many fronts this year and suppliers are continuing to face an uphill battle. We want to support them as much as we can and deliver a business that can operate and grow, even as things continue to change”.
The meal boxes are nearly ready to eat, requiring only finishing touches. Diners can also order the accompanying Merivale at Home wine bundles and pre-batched aperitifs inspired by the restaurants, as well as a wide selection of drops handpicked by Merivale’s Master Sommeliers.
