Pernod Ricard’s Sparkling wine brand Mumm has announced its first ever still wine release: the Mumm Central Otago Pinot Noir 2021. Forming part of its Mumm Terroirs collection, the latest release is made from hand-harvested grapes sourced from the Lowburn sub-region, and was bottled after 16 months spent aging in French oak.

“We’ve long worked alongside grape growers in the sub-regions to recognise the best vineyard and sites and the 2021 vintage provided us with excellent conditions and fruit to produce this wine,” said Jamie Marfell, Chief Winemaker at Mumm New Zealand.

“Creating a fine wine rather than a sparkling wine, speaks to the pioneering and innovative nature of this collection which is dedicated to showcasing Pinot Noir at its pinnacle of quality in the bottle.”

According to Mumm, the new wine displays “aromas of black and red cherry, blackberry and blueberry highlights, with a touch of sweet vanilla spice. The palate is elegantly structured, full of dark plum and black cherry, overlayed with sweet dark chocolate, subtle silky fruit tannins and sweet harmonious oak char to finish.”

Mumm’s new Central Otago Pinot Noir is available now in select Australian venues and online at an RRP of $80.
