ALDI has been named Supermarket of the Year by the Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards. The retailer received the award on Wednesday night, joining a number of other retailers of the year across industries as varied as fashion and books.

ALDI Managing Director Oliver Bongardt said on accepting the award: “We are thrilled to be awarded the title of Supermarket of the Year in the Roy Morgan Research Customer Satisfaction Awards 2014. It is true testament to ALDI’s values and our commitment to deliver Australians the best possible supermarket experience.

“Everything we do is designed with one goal in mind – to enable Australian shoppers to live richer lives for less. Making sure our customers are satisfied with their experience at ALDI is a big part of this, which is why we offer permanently low prices, an award winning product range and a quality in-store experience”.

The awards recognise retailers have achieved consistently high levels of customer satisfaction throughout 2014. Award winners are measured on consumer satisfaction ratings received through surveys from thousands of consumers and business decision-makers across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia.

CEO of Roy Morgan Research, Michele Levine, said of the awards:

“The retail winners of the Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards are always anticipated with excitement, and the 2014 Awards were no exception.

“Without customer satisfaction, there is no retail success. The 15 winners announced [on Wednesday] night are living proof that Australians still value and recognise bricks-and-mortar retailers who go the extra mile to satisfy their customers. Online shopping may be quick and easy, but it generally lacks that all-important personal touch.”
