4 Pines has opened an Izakaya-style pop-up bar to celebrate the success of their Japanese Style Lager, with Japanese food, beverages, and entertainment all on the menu.

Transforming the downstairs level of their Manly watering hole, Block’s Bar, the team has taken inspiration from the alleys, bars, and towering skyline in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district, known for its vibrant night life.

Adam Dearing, General Manager at 4 Pines, said being well received by Manly locals has allowed 4 Pines to create a strong community in the seaside suburb.

“4 Pines was born in Manly, built around the local community and good beer…which is why we are super excited to bring the same Izakaya feeling to our venue downstairs,” he said.

The Izakaya pop-up, meaning “stay-drink-place”, will feature a limited-edition menu to create a relaxed atmosphere for mates to catch up and enjoy good food and great drinks.

First released earlier this year as a limited edition, The Japanese Style Lager has since received a silver medal in the Australian International Beer Awards and is now available year-round.

The full menu, crafted by 4 Pines Executive Chief Joji Shikama, will see sashimi tartare, pork katsu, and teriyaki ribs fused with Japanese curries, fried chicken and spicy dalkin slaw.

Twelve taps will be pouring rotating 4 Pines Core and Limited Release beers and Brookvale Union favourites. There will also be an extended Sake, spirits and cocktail menu, including the Yuzu Shikoku Slushy, available on the weekend.

The Japanese-inspired pop-up will run from Wednesday, 28 June, with a lineup of food and beverage specials, entertainment and live events, including ever-popular karaoke events.
