The 45th consecutive 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny has been released by Seppeltsfield today, with Andrew Caillard, Master of Wine, awarding the wine a full 100 points and describing it as "an everlasting classic".
Mr Caillard's review describes the 1922 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny, one of Australia's most significant wines as:
“Deep colour with yellow edges. Intense brandy spirit, praline, coffee, rancio, liquorice, sandalwood, prunes. Immensely concentrated almost solid praline, charcoal, crème brulee, coffee, liquorice, sandalwood, toffee, caramel, marmalade, prune flavours, fine smooth supple/ viscous textures and fresh pure spirit/ aniseed length. An everlasting classic. Drink now – 2070 and beyond. 100 points”.
The 1922 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny is matured in oak for 100 years and is released from the historic 1878 Centennial Cellar today.
Custodian of the Seppeltsfield Centennial Cellar, Fiona Donald, Chief Winemaker describes the 1922 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny:
“Great intensity harnessed by citrusy acid and notes of sun dried stone fruit – nutty, spicy, with terrific length. A more savoury expression with focused lift and intensity of spicy walnut liqueur – woody, toasty, some herbal notes too”.
The wine is rated as ‘Exceptional’ in the Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine and has limited availability in 100ml format - hand filled to order, individually numbered and authenticated for collection purposes. Presented in a Jarrah timber gift box with a certificate that can be personalised accordingly.
