In conjunction with Heineken's partnership with The Australian Open, over the last few weeks the beer brand has been leaving a number of unexpected and surprising gifts on the bar at venues across Melbourne. Undercover, Heineken's mystery shopper, the Star Serve Guru, has been seeking out perfect serves of the beer and rewarding bartenders with tickets to this year's season as well as generous tips.

The pour a perfect serve, bartenders were required to follow the five step Heineken Star Serve Ritual, including providing a clean glass, pouring at a 45 degree angle, skimming the head of the beer and checking that the head sits on the shoulder of the star on the glass, before presenting the beer on a Heineken coaster.

"Our product sits at the heart of everything we do and one of Heineken's core brand commitments is to go the extra mile to ensure our international premium beer is delivered to consumers in the best possible way", Marketing Manager for Heineken at Lion Australia, Alessandro Manunta said.

"We are always looking to try new things and we want this activation to encourage all bar and wait staff to make sure they are providing the best service to anyone that orders a Heineken."

To visualise what the Star Serve Ritual looks like, a short film was created during the Star Serve Guru’s time undercover. The camera captured footage as bartenders served the mystery shopper, unaware their technique was being filmed, as well as their reactions to receiving the rewards.

The undercover guru will now make his way through the rest of the country before returning to Melbourne once again. Bartenders nationwide who follow the five step ritual could also have the chance of earning the ultimate tip over coming weeks.
