Wild Turkey has released Master’s Keep One, with Brand Ambassador Tristram Lilburne-Fini introducing the seventh limited-edition release in the award-winning series at a dinner at Restaurant Hubert last month.
Mr Lilburne-Fini hosted the evening and explained that the bourbon is the latest tribute to the distinct philosophies of the two Russell distillers, father and son Jimmy and Eddie Russell, who together have 107 years of experience at Wild Turkey Distilling Co.
Master’s Keep One was ranked eleventh on Fred Minnick's Top 100 American Whiskeys of the Year in 2021. (Jack Daniel's 10 Year Old ranked tenth, Maker’s Mark FAE-2 was 26th and Westward Cask Strength ranked 52nd).
Mr Lilburne-Fini said, "Master’s Keep One combines Jimmy’s love of mid-aged bourbons (eight to 10 years) with Eddie’s passion for complex characteristics that come with bourbons aged longer. Finding harmony in balance, the barrels used in this expression serve as an ode to Jimmy’s preference for a bolder bourbon mingled with Eddie’s precisely picked 14-year-old whiskey. Both whiskies come together for a second maturation using new oak barrels specially toasted and charred in one of Eddie’s favourite timber rickhouses – Tyrone G."
He said that what makes Master’s Keep One so special is the perfect combination of two different tastes from father and son.
Throughout the years, Jimmy and Eddie’s yin and yang approach has catapulted the Wild Turkey Distilling Co into an innovation think tank while staying true to the bold spirit at the heart of the brand. This mindset has allowed Eddie and his distilling cohorts to rise to modern consumption trends in American Whiskey while experimenting with age statements, ageing techniques and barrel placement.
According to Roy Morgan, Bourbon Whiskey is the third most popular spirit of choice in Australia, following Scotch Whiskey and Gin.
What makes this one so special is the aging techniques and grain selection that comes from expertise, creating bold flavours.
Mr Lilburne-Fini said, "Master’s Keep One stands out because notes of toasted and charred oak result in an enticing aroma of sweet honey and brown spice, with bold vanilla, butterscotch, and caramel."
Wild Turkey’s Master’s Keep One is priced at $250 RRP and is now available at selected independent liquor specialists from April 2022 and selected Dan Murphy’s from May 2022.
