The Adelaide Hills Wine Region (AHWR) has secured more than $200K funding to as part of its training program, Elevating the Hills: Business Resilience Building in the Adelaide Hills Wine Region.

The funding comes from the Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) and will enable AHWR to support the professional development of grape-growers and winery employees throughout the region, many of whom are still feeling the effects of the Cuddle Creek bushfires of 2019/20.

President of Adelaide Hills Wine Region, Jared Stringer said, "There are still many wineries and grape-growers recovering from the Cudlee Creek fire back in summer 2019 and these training and development opportunities will ensure they are well equipped in their recovery.

"Whether it’s Cellar Door training, winemaking skills or business acumen, the variety of these training initiatives will empower our members to strengthen their proposition, in terms of visitation, product quality, maximising sales and employee engagement."

The program comprises five training and development initiatives to build resilience and capability within the region:

  • Advanced Viticulture Course – 20 places available, delivered by Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI).
  • Advanced Wine Assessment course to support two individuals with considerable formal wine tasting experience.
  • Wine & Spirit Education Trust Level 2 and Level 3 – 45 places available with the course delivered by TAFE SA.
  • Wine Business and Tourism Advanced Executive Program – 20 spots available with the course delivered by the Adelaide Business School.
