Those aged 22-35 and working in a bar or liquor retail will be able to apply for the annual HostPlus Hospitality Scholarship from next Friday, 31 March. The scholarship gives candidates the opportunity to further their career by providing a trip around the world to work with some of the best businesses in their sector.

The Hostplus Hospitality Scholarship launched in 2014 and has quickly become sought after. Anyone working in hospitality can apply, all they have to do is answer five simple questions and submit their CV online.

If successful, you will be flown to three countries where you will gain experience in three acclaimed hospitality businesses. The scholarship includes flights, accommodation and spending money, plus a one-year mentorship conducted by the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.

Last year’s winner was Elika Rowell, Head Roaster at Square One Coffee Roasters. Her scholarship includes visiting a coffee farm, café and lab in Brazil, taking a tour of the Programa de Educación a Caficultores (PECA) organisation run by Caravela Coffee in Colombia, and attending the Re:CO speciality coffee symposiumin Seattle.

This year’s judges include Gail Donovan, owner of Donovan’s Restaurant; Matteo Pignatelli of Matteo's Restaurant; Rafael Rashid, the forefather of the Melbourne food truck scene; Fleur Studd of Market Lane Coffee; Jo-Ann Moody, Gastronomy Manager of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival; and Umberto Mecchi, Group Executive, Strategy, Marketing and Client Services at Hostplus.
