Archie Rose Distilling Company has teamed up with tattoo artist Kian Forreal to launch a new gin.
Horisumi Autumn is the first gin of what will soon be a collection of four.
“This collaboration is very unique and one which challenges our typical product development process,” says Archie Rose Founder, Will Edwards.
“Usually it’s all about the botanicals and production process, with the packaging developed to complement the spirit, so to flip that process on its head and have Horisumi’s illustrations lead the production was really exciting,” he continues.
The gin takes its name from Forreal, whose traditional Japanese tattoo name is Shodai Horisumi.
“A collaboration with Archie Rose felt organic and natural,” says Forreal.
“There is a shared passion for the hand-made and deep respect for doing things right, albeit often the hard way, but this made it feel like a good fit,” he continues.
The first 200 bottles will be hand wrapped in a traditional Japanese furoshiki wrap featuring the individual bottle number and autumn kanji.
As for the spirit inside, it is spice driven with strong notes of red miso, sesame seed and Sancho pepper.
Archie Rose Hoisumi Autumn will be available from Wednesday 1 March.
