The distillery, which opened earlier this year, prides itself on being able to bring members of the public face-to-face with the world of distilling at its Sydney location and hopes the new initiative will take that one step further.
Through an online custom application, trade will be able to create their own vodkas, gins or whiskies - from selecting the botanicals to choosing the name on the label.
The initiative has been a long time in the making at Archie Rose and founder and owner, Will Edwards is incredibly pleased to unveil the new development.
“Every day we are lucky enough to able to play with pure botanical distillates, unique malts and rare casks to create our spirits’ flavour profiles, and thought why should we be the ones having all the fun designing spirits?” Edwards said. “It was a natural progression to go down this route and give people the opportunity to get really involved in the distilling process, which we are so passionate about.”
The tailored vodka and gin is made online, where trade can select up to five of the distillery’s own unique botanical distillates. Trade can then choose the intensity of each botanical and the design of the label.
For the tailored whisky option, the creator and four others will made the whisky on site at Archie Rose. Trade can choose between 20L, 50L or 100L casks, which will be made by the Archie Rose cooper using the specified wood and smoke influence. The creator's name will then be stenciled onto the cask, stored and displayed, with maturation managed by Archie Rose Production Manager and Head Distiller, who will release a 200ml from the cask each year or the creator can request a sample from the cask by appointment. Once matured, six bottlings of the final product will be presented in a wooden Archie Rose crate with full brewing and distillation notes, one bottle of filtered water used in the production and two Glencairn glasses. There will also be an option to keep the empty cask.
The Tailored Vodka and Tailored Gin cost $84 and $89 respectively, while the Tailored Whisky costs $4,000 plus. You can register via https://archierose.com.au/tailored-spirits/ from Monday 2 November.
