Archie Rose Distilling Co’s Original Vodka has won a Gold Medal at the Vodka Masters 2018.

"We're obviously thrilled to see our Original Vodka recognised as Australia's best and one of only three in the "Rest of the World" category to pick up a Gold Medal, particularly off the back of the "World's Best International Vodka" award it picked up in the neutral category in the US last year," said founder Will Edwards.

"We work incredibly hard to be recognised as a distilling company, as opposed to a single spirit producer, so this latest recognition is confirmation of our team's ability to produce innovative and exceptional spirits across all categories."

The Vodka Masters are organised each year by Spirits Business, with expert judges to assess the state of the category in a blind tasting.

The Archie Rose vodka was described by the judges as being “spicy and well balanced”.

Spirits Business Editor and judge Melita Kiely said: “These vodkas are not trying to be in any other category. “They’re not trying to be typically Russian or European - they are creating their own styles and are doing it really well.”

The other Gold accolades went to “grassy and citrus-centred” Spiritual Exceptional New Zealand Vodka and “interesting and bold” Pur Vodka.

Meanwhile, Beam Suntory picked up a Silver medal for its Effen Vodka.
