The first of its kind, the Ardbeg Peat Mie was developed in collaboration with Fancy Hank’s, legendary Melbourne-based BBQ restaurant and owners of the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest smoker, making them the perfect partner to bring to life Ardbeg’s obsession for smoke. The Peat Mie pairs perfectly with an Islay Lemonade, Ardbeg’s playful interpretation on the classic Pie and Lemonade combo.
The highly anticipated one-off Peat Mie is now available for a limited time only in Australia with limited quantities available nationwide. Australians will have to be quick to get their hands on them, and to celebrate the launch Ardbeg is giving away the Summer’s smokiest combination, the Peat Mie and Islay Lemonade, at Fancy Hank’s in Melbourne and the four Australian Ardbeg Embassies in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
Ardbeg Committee members will be able to redeem their combinations from these venues from Monday, 13-Friday, 17 February.
A loyalty club like no other, The Ardbeg Committee has embassies all over the world, including these four in Australia, and members have access to all the Committee exclusive releases by Ardbeg including the Ardbeg 8-Year-Old For Discussion which is balanced by ex-Sherry casks to incorporate new dimensions of smoky flavouring.
Ardbeg’s one-off limited-edition pie creation is made with premium, 15-hour smoked barley-fed brisket, fermented tomatoes, shallots and thyme, encased in a sour cream short crust pastry and served with the Fancy Hank’s x Ardbeg tomato sauce. As for the Ardbeg infusion, the whisky used is Ardbeg 8 Years Old For Discussion, which has helped bake in unique notes of charcoal, green peppers and woodsmoke. Truly, a flavour experience like no other, best rounded out with an equally bold Ardbeg whisky or Islay Lemonade in hand.
Ardbeg expect this wonderfully weird and unique pie to divide opinion becoming the source of dinner table conversation. Meat pies are a classic Down Under, but the Peat Mie is a whole new experience. The idea came all the way from the Ardbeg Distillery on Islay, where Ardbeg has been producing their peated whisky for over 200 years. During the pandemic, Distillery workers turned their hand to baking pies to rally their local community – it’s this pie-making that sparked the idea for an Ardbeg-infused pie of their own.
