Starward has been recognised as the World’s Best Premix and World’s Best Contemporary Cocktail at the 2020 World Premix Awards in London.
The awards were for Starward's (New) Old Fashioned bottled cocktail, a blend of Starward whisky, orange bitters and wattle seed demerara syrup, all of which are made in house.
The drink is an ode to the world’s most popular cocktail, as crowned by Drinks International’s ‘The World’s Best-Selling Classic Cocktails 2019’.
Starward's Distillery Made Whisky Cocktail Series takes classic recipes and reimagines them as a new modern batched cocktail, with an Australian whisky twist.
The second release in its cocktail series, the Red Manhattan, was awarded a Gold Medal in the ‘Best Classic Cocktail’ category, making Starward the most decorated of the 2020 awards program.
The Red Manhattan is crafted from our Starward single grain whisky matured in Australian red wine barrels, and a red wine vermouth infused by native botanicals and bitters made in collaboration with Adelaide Hills Distillery.
Starward Founder David Vitale said: “Our team at Starward continue to push the boundaries of what modern whisky can be. We have many things to thank for this continuous endeavour of perfection, including Melbourne and the creative, inspiring and pioneering culture it fosters.
"So, we are proud of our (New) Old Fashioned being recognised as the ‘World’s Best Premix’, an honour bestowed on just a few.”
The World Premix Awards is part of the World Drinks Awards, presented by TheDrinksReport.com, a global awards program selecting the very best in all internationally recognised styles of drinks.
Curatif scoops two medals
Fellow Aussie drinks company Curatif, which launched its range of premium RTD cocktails last year, took out two medals at the World Premix Awards.
Curatif won Bronze for its Archie Rose Espresso Martini and Silver for its Four Pillars Negroni.
“Every detail from the Espresso Martini foam to the balance of Negroni ingredients has been carefully crafted with our brand partners to achieve perfection," said co-founder Matt Sanger.
“We’re thrilled to again be recognised at a global level for the quality of our ready to serve cocktails. Decades of learning and years of work have gone into making our drinks become world class cocktails - in cans - and it’s amazing to receive these awards. More importantly, it drives us to continue to make killer cocktails and we can’t wait for the world to see what we do next.”
