Australian Richard Blanchard has been appointed Glenfiddich Ambassador for Australia and New Zealand, joining William Grant & Son’s esteemed worldwide ambassador program as its 100th member. Established in 1999, the program acts as a dedicated platform to educate media, trade partners and consumers about the spirits and share the stories behind the brands.

Prior to the appointment, Blanchard spent three years as a Whisky Specialist at William Grant & Sons, working across every one of the company’s whisky brands. Last year, Blanchard won Brand Ambassador of the Year at the Australian Bar Awards. Blanchard, also an award-winning bartender, has worked at some of Australia and New Zealand’s high profile venues, including Eau de Vie in Melbourne, and Hawthorne and Matterhorn in Wellington.

Blanchard joins the team of nine global and 91 local ambassadors across 25 countries, each representing one of the company’s portfolio brands, including Grant’s, Glenfiddich, The Balvenie, Hendrick’s Gin, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Tullamore DEW, Monkey Shoulder and Drambuie.

William Grant & Sons fosters creativity amongst its ambassadors; Project XX, an ambitious experiment involving a collaboration between 20 whisky experts from 16 countries as part of the of the Glenfiddich Experimental Series, is a great example of this.

William Grant & Sons Head of Marketing Jack Pollock said, “Our ambassadors are unique individuals who have an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to bring creative (and sometimes crazy) ideas to life. Their main purpose is to be a living, breathing embodiment of the brand they represent.

“Our ambassadors act as an extension of the family behind the business. They bring immense know-how and unique capabilities from a varied selection of backgrounds. The ambassador team is truly central to William Grant & Son’s global success and we look forward to watching it grow over the coming years.”
