Melbourne's The Craft & Co has released a new distilled tea range called Artillery.

Various teas have been distilled with craft gin or rum, creating a unique ready-to-pour product that is relatively light in alcohol (15%).

The idea was born when the distillery noticed that bartenders were more keen to explore “gin flavoured teas” rather than “tea flavoured gins”.

The distillery was also aware that many people are being conscientious about their levels of alcohol consumption.

There are three products to choose from in The Craft & Co's distilled tea range: Earl Grey Gin Tea ($38); Oolong Gin Tea ($38); and Jasmine Rum Tea ($42).

They are recommended to be served in tall glass with ice, topped up with soda or lemonade and garnished with fresh fruit and herbs.

The innovation follows Pernod Ricard releasing a tea-infused wine range last year called Tea & Wine.

Tea supplier and Co-Founder of The Rabbit Hole Organic Tea Bar, Corinne Smith said: “It’s exciting to finally see tea innovation in the spotlight. Now more than ever we are opting for higher quality and more unique flavours, and there is so much to explore and enjoy with this versatility of tea.”

The Craft & Co has already created the cult classic Gingerbread Gin and hosts Australia’s longest running Gin Markets.
