The Bacardi Legacy Top 8 bartenders have been selected to progress to the National Semi Final in the 2019/2020 cocktail competition in Australia.

BACARDÍ Brand Ambassadors Loy Catada, Georgie Mann and Peter Hollands have reviewed the Top 30 entries from around the country, making each drink and reviewing the recipe videos submitted by Australia’s leading bartenders.

The competitors were judged against a set criteria including taste, aroma, innovation and inspiration.

Catada said he was captivated with the professionalism with which the competitors approached the competition.

“They were very passionate, the drinks were positively delicious, and their preparation and enthusiasm for the competition came across in every video,” he noted.

The Top 8 bartenders who will be advancing to the semi final of the 2019/2020 BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition are:

Adam Dow - Dead Ringer - Sydney

Bec Bayley - Brooklyn Standard - Brisbane

Lachlan Gunner – Grandma’s Bar - Sydney

Leroy Martin-McEwen - The Gresham - Brisbane

The Bacardi Legacy Top 8 bartenders will be en-route to Sydney on November 12 for the National Semi-Final held at Maybe Sammy.

Here the competitors will present their Legacy cocktail as well as the original BACARDÍ Daiquiri in front of our judges. The event will culminate at that evening’s cocktail party where the Top 3 will be announced.

Now in its seventh chapter, BACARDÍ Legacy was established to challenge the best contemporary bartenders in the world to create their own cocktail legacy – that will stand the test of time and join the leagues of Fred Siggins, Alissa Gabriel, Andrew Bennett, Dave Kerr, James Irvine and Jenna Hemsworth in representing Australia on the international stage.

Mentored by dedicated Brand Ambassadors, these three competitors will partner with BACARDÍ to market and promote their cocktail and help these aspiring bartenders forge their place in the Australian cocktail industry.

Based on the success of their drink and overall campaign, one of the Top 3 will be selected as the 2020 BACARDÍ Legacy Australian Cocktail Competition winner at the national final held in February 2020.

The journey will culminate in Miami, Florida, where the Australian winner will compete for the ultimate title in the BACARDÍ Legacy Global Cocktail Competition Final.
