In collaboration with Australian Macadamias, Stone & Wood present their new limited-release malty lager: Malty Mac.

Currently available from Stone & Wood Tasting Rooms in Byron Bay and Brisbane, Malty Mac is based on the traditional German dunkel style beer, modernised for the Australian palate by using roasted macadamia and macadamia shells during brewing.

Macadamias are an Australian native nut, primarily produced in Northern NSW and South East Queensland. With Stone & Wood’s roots firmly in the same regions, making a partnership between the two locals made a natural and damn delicious fit.

Drawing inspiration from the macadamia farms that stretch across the Northern Rivers, Malty Mac is relaxed and smooth, brewed with blended robust Munich and pilsner malts that give the lager dark golden hues.

Brewer, Josh Waters, who was instrumental in creating this delicious drop, had this to say about working with this amazing native produce:

“Australian Macadamias are the best quality in the world and it’s something we have in abundance here in the Northern Rivers. We thought the idea of getting macadamia flavour into a nice malty lager would work really well and so Malty Mac was born. It’s an approachable beer, perfect for food pairing, so it’s ideal for eating with lunch here in the brewery.”

Marketing Manager of Australian Macadamias, Jacqui Price, said: “Macadamias are so versatile in their use, we hope this collaboration will provide inspiration for other makers around Australia to create something incredible with macadamias.”

Malty Mac is a limited release malt lager poured exclusively at the Stone & Wood Tasting Rooms in Byron Bay and Brisbane.
