Joining the company at the young age of 21, Bill has seen Hardys Wines grow from a revered family wine company to the foundation of Australia's number one wine producer and largest selling Australian wine brand across the world.
Bill said, “Making wine for Hardys and representing the brand around the world over the past four decades has been a huge part of my life. I will always be a part of this company and I am very much looking forward to the next stage of my long career with Hardys Wines."
Bill has also made significant contributions to the wine industry at large and was recognised as 'Legend of the Vine' by the Wine Communicators of Australia this year for his work, joining other 'Legends' such as James Halliday, David Lowe, Phil Laffer and Lyndey Milan.
Leaving his post, from 2016 Bill's youngest daughter Alix will take over his role. Alix, a sixth generation Hardy family member, says she hopes to bring a new generational perspective to the company.
"They say you can choose your friends but not your family, but I would choose our family any day. I feel exceptionally lucky to have experienced our family’s legacy through the close-knit family that we are today, and honoured to be a part of its future,” said Alix.
Alix will bring several years of experience from Wine Australia, as well as experience from communications and marketing roles across Australia.
As Alix takes over, Bill will continue to represent and promote the family brands here and overseas, in between his beloved hobbies, golfing and bushwalking.
