It’s hard to reconcile the continued decline in beer consumption in Australia with the surge in brewery openings across the country throughout 2015. The disconnect can be explained by the fact that many of the new breweries opening on an almost weekly basis are focused on serving their local communities.
New South Wales has seen the openings of Camperdown’s Wayward Brewing, Enmore’s The Grifter Brewing Co. and Five Dock’s Akasha Brewing all in a matter of weeks, further cementing Sydney’s inner west as a hub of microbrewery activity.
Elsewhere in the state, Bathurst will have its first new brewery in many years with the imminent establishment of Two Heads Brewing in the heritage Crago Mill, with former Bluetongue Head Brewer, Bruce Peachey, acting as consultant to founders Campbell and Greg Hedley.
