Drinks retailers Dan Murphy’s and BWS, part of Endeavour Group, are looking to hire over 4,400 team members for summer, with hundreds of roles offering immediate starts.

“We have a wonderful team culture, and team members - including casuals - receive on-going training and have access to great benefits including team discounts on drinks and groceries,” said Endeavour Group's Chief People Officer, Alison Merner.

Dan Murphy’s has already started recruiting for over 2,000 Customer Assistant roles, the majority of which are casual with a minimum of 20 hours per week with heaps of benefits included in the offering.

“We encourage people from all walks of life to apply - from university students to retirees. We are looking for motivated people who are service-minded and have a keen interest in the world of drinks. We work with spirit and we’re team players and we expect the same from our team members, so if you bring the can-do attitude we will teach you the rest!,” Ms Merner said.

Dan Murphy’s is looking for almost double the amount of Customer Assistant roles compared to last year as it manages the impacts of Covid, while gearing up for summer.

BWS is currently recruiting for 400 roles, and will start recruiting for an additional 2,000 Customer Assistant roles for their 1,400 stores across the country from the first week of October.

In total across Dan Murphy’s and BWS stores around Australia, there will be:

New South Wales: more than 1,200 roles

  • ACT: close to 60 roles
  • Victoria: close to 1,000 roles
  • Queensland: more than 900 roles
  • Western Australia: almost 400 roles
  • South Australia: over 250 roles
  • Tasmania: around 75 roles
  • Northern Territory: 30 roles

BWS and Dan Murphy’s are part of Endeavour Group, which became Australia’s largest drinks and hospitality business after it demerged from Woolworths Group earlier this year.

“We offer great opportunities for career development within our stores and the wider business, and provide training programs for team members to help them grow with us. A casual role with us could be the start to a great career with Australia’s leading drinks and hospitality business,” Ms Merner said.

Drinks retail stores have been deemed essential in all states and territories during the Covid-19 pandemic, and all BWS and Dan Murphy’s stores have a range of safety measures including protective plexiglass screens at checkouts, signage to help customers socially distance, strict limits on the number of customers in stores, sanitisation stations and contactless delivery and pick up.

“The wellbeing of our team, customers and communities is our highest priority. We strongly encourage our team members to get vaccinated, and to support the Covid-19 vaccination roll out, we offer full time and part time team members paid leave to get vaccinated,” Ms Merner explained.

Endeavour Group has a range of other support for team members if they are impacted by the pandemic. This includes special support measures for team members and their families if they are self isolating in line with advice from the health authorities, and access to special paid leave, including for casuals.

To be successful, applicants need to be at least 18 years of age, with a passion for customer service.
