Bushmills Irish Whiskey has released an Australian exclusive. with The Whisky Club.

The limited edition 2012 Burgundy Cask is the latest release forming the heritage cask trilogy in its sell-out Bushmills Causeway Collection, the first to be unveiled by recently appointed Bushmills Master Blender, Alex Thomas.

Alex Thomas, The Old Bushmills Distillery Master Blender said: “The Causeway Collection is a celebration of our passion for single malts and these special single malt whiskeys are our greatest treasures.

“It truly is a privilege to work with such rare whiskeys. At Bushmills we hand select casks that give an insight into the depth and breadth of casks we have at the Old Bushmills Distillery.

“The 2012 Burgundy Cask is a sensational liquid, I honestly think that this is one of the best whiskeys that Bushmills have produced to date, and I can’t wait to share it with Australia’s biggest community of whiskey lovers!”

Launching globally in 2020, the Bushmills Causeway Collection fast gained a cult fan base among whiskey lovers across Australia, bolstered by a partnership with The Whisky Club, the world’s largest whiskey community and subscription retailer.

Seamus Carroll, The Whisky Club’s Buyer and Ambassador said: "The whiskey world went nuts when we released the very first whiskey in The Causeway Collection, our 2006 Vintage Marsala Cask which sold for up to 20 times its RRP at auction. The same happened last year with the 2011 Vintage Banyuls Cask, selling out in just 48 hours. And history is about to repeat itself with our 2012 Burgundy Cask."

With a limited number of cases available, the Causeway Collection 2012 Burgundy Cask follows the 2020 release of a 2006 Marsala Cask, the first exclusive collaboration in Bushmills’ 400-plus year history of whiskey making, and the 2021 release of a 2011 Banyuls Cask, all crafted for The Whisky Club, Australia’s biggest community of whiskey lovers.

"Each of the whiskeys in this series have been finished in rare, heritage wine casks seldom used in whiskey making. Our 2012 Burgundy Cask is really something else — this is Burgundy from a Domaine dating back to the 1400s. It's incredible. Bushmills have access to casks that very few distilleries can get their hands on.

“Needless to say, as the third release in the history-making trilogy, we’re anticipating strong demand and encourage those who want to get their hands on some to sign up quickly to ensure they don’t miss out," said Carroll.

Matured in oloroso sherry and bourbon casks at the Old Bushmills Distillery in Northern Ireland in 2012 before ageing in burgundy wine casks in 2018, the 2012 Burgundy Cask is fragrant with summer fruit aromas with notes of fresh raspberry, and a black cherry and vanilla finish. The liquid is a shining example of a unique cask-finished single malt from the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery, The Old Bushmills Distillery.

The 2022 Bushmills Causeway Collections 2012 Burgundy Cask will be shipped in early October.
