The Woolworths-owned BWS has announced several new appointments within its Merchandising Team as it continues to implement its Evolution Plan.
The liquor retailer said implementation of the plan over the last six months has already made positive headways for the business.
"These results have encouraged us to accelerate the implementation of our Evolution Plan, particularly around customer led ranging and our renewal program," said Adam Fry, Head of Merchandising - BWS, Endeavour Drinks Group. "In addition, we have identified the need to accelerate the opportunity to better align our attached store format development with the Supermarkets renewal program."
As a result, the business has created a new role, Head of BWS Formats and Renewals, which will be taken by Tim Rice, previously Head of Wine for BWS, in an acting capacity. Rice will manage the role for the next six months while the business conducts an internal and external search for the role.
Chris Mattes, who is currently the Category Manager for Wine, will take over from Rice as the Acting Head of Wine and James Maltman, who is currently the Trade Planning and Promotions Manager for Wine, will take over from Mattes, again in an acting capacity.
Additionally, Alex Furey will take over the role of Trade Planning and Promotions Manager on a permanent basis.
Fry said, "Tim and the Wine team have done a fantastic job of resetting our wine business over the last 12 months and whilst there is still plenty of work to do, the foundations of the current strategy that are now in place give me every confidence that our recent strong momentum across financial, customer and relationship measures will continue well into the future."
The rest of the BWS Wine team – Nitin Arora, Sally Payne, Christine Wardle and Simon Angell – will remain in their current roles.
