BWS has partnered with The Good Beer Co to “help save the world, one good beer at a time”. Launched with a crowdfunding campaign in November 2015, The Good Beer Co is Australia's first social enterprise beer company, working with Australian brewers to create and sell beer whilst raising money for worthy causes.

100 BWS stores across Queensland are now stocking the company’s first beer, Great Barrier Beer, with 50 per cent of profits going to the Australian Marine Conservation Society’s work to protect the Great Barrier Reef.

Of the partnership, Sid Ajala, Category Manager, Beer for BWS said, "We loved the new concept of a good beer that gives back. It's a great mid strength session pale ale that we know our customers will enjoy drinking. And best of all, they're helping to protect our national icon, the Great Barrier Reef, just by having a good beer!"

James Grugeon, founder of The Good Beer Co, said, "Our beer has been ranked one of the best in Queensland and beer drinkers and the bars, pubs, hotels, restaurants and venues across QLD that stock it love it, but as a start-up it's tough to scale. To have Great Barrier Beer stocked in 100 BWS bottle shops is game changing for us. We hope that BWS customers will get behind it and visit their local store to grab some glory and join our growing legion of rather unlikely heroes!"

Imogen Zethoven, Great Barrier Reef Campaign Director for the Australian Marine Conservation Society said, “There really couldn’t be anything easier than doing good by enjoying a good beer. The Reef needs all of our help right now and this revolutionary beer is raising much needed funds to support our education programs with tour operators and farmers that will conserve our national icon.”

Great Barrier Beer is the first of a planned range of five different beers that each give back to a different cause. Grugeon has now launched a new crowdfunding campaign to allow the company to extend the range as planned, inviting consumers to vote on the next style of beer.
