Calabria Family Wines has introduced two new varietals to its easy-drinking Richland range - the 2019 Riverina Durif and the 2020 Riverina Rosé which is 100% vegan-friendly - a first for the family’s wines.

“Durif has such a long and significant history to the Riverina wine region, and as champions of the variety, it was only natural that we brought it into our Richland range. It gives adventurous wine drinkers something new to explore at an affordable price,” said Sales and Marketing Manager, Andrew Calabria.

“We know there are more and more wine drinkers seeking vegan-friendly options and after a bit of testing from our winemaking team, we found changing our processes to be vegan friendly still maintained our promise that the wine will over-deliver on quality and value. We’re excited to be exploring this territory further and introducing more vegan wines across our portfolio in the near future.”

In 1929, founder Francesco Calabria boarded the Orford ship in Italy bound for Australia in search of a better life for his family. While his wife and son waited in Italy, Francesco would often write letters of his experiences in Australia.

He described Australia’s layered landscapes, Mediterranean climate and deep blue waters as a ‘rich land’ in these letters, thus inspiring the name behind the Richland range. The new wines are a welcome addition to the suite of pocket-friendly wines, showcasing the diversity of styles coming from the Riverina wine region.

Both wines are now available for RRP $11.95 from select retailers and the Calabria Family Wines’ cellar door.
