Australian beverage company Capi has partnered with Malfy Gin for the launch of its sixth all-natural ingredient mixer Sunset Tonic — a pink-coloured ode to coastal sunsets around the world.

"Consumer research indicates that the post-pandemic appetite for at-home spirit and mixer products is showing no signs of slowing down, so we wanted to launch something new and impactful to elevate the category," says Capi Group CEO, Emma Evans.

Designed to capture the imaginations of verandah mixologists everywhere, Capi Sunset Tonic is perfectly paired with Malfy Gin’s refreshing citrus-flavoured Limone expression and poured over ice in a classic tumbler to make the perfect, smooth-tasting gin and tonic coined the Malfy Sunset.

"We have seen the rise in flavoured gins in Australia, and an easy perfect serve with a mix of Malfy Con Limone and Capi Sunset is ideal in continuing to build consumer confidence in using these gins. We trialled all four of our Malfy gin flavours, but it was the combination with Con Limone that balanced the citrus and fruit profiles with traditional gin and tonic flavours," says Pernod-Ricard Global Marketing Director, Eric Thomson.

Harnessing the sun’s restorative energy and housed in CAPI’s signature 750ml recycled glass bottle, the perfectly house-crafted tonic exudes bright notes of tart, sweet pink grapefruit and mandarin, underscored by Mount Zero lake salt and containing 25% less sugar than its predecessor, CAPI Classic Tonic. Equally, delectable Italian sun-ripened lemons and Amalfi lemon peel elevate the fine botanicals and hand-picked juniper to make Malfy Con Limone an essential gin to any at-home bar.

"Sunset Tonic really encapsulates the CAPI brand and our market position today, ten years in." explains CAPI Director of Product Innovation, Thurman Wise. "Its profile is honest and uses the highest-quality ingredients. It’s proposition is refreshment. And it's opaque pink colour speaks to the vibrant nature of coastal summer skies."

In keeping with Capi’s unwavering dedication to sustainable practices the brand has commissioned lauded Victorian-based glassware artist, Billy Crellin of Studio Dokola to recast over 200 recycled Capi bottles creating a strictly-limited capsule of mouth-blown, narrow-rimmed tumblers for the tonic's release.

Bottling the sparkle of coastal afternoon sundowners, the locally produced and all-natural Sunset Tonic is the sixth mixer product in the Capi brand’s burgeoning drinks portfolio, which boasts an impressive 20+ water, soda and pour-over products.

Sunset Tonic’s unique all-natural ingredients include carbonated water, fructose, citric acid, flavours, natural colours, salt and cinchona extract (0.5%). Capi Sunset Tonic will be available to purchase from retailers Australia-wide from September, including selected Coles and BWS outlets, and Victorian Dan Murphy’s stores. It will also be available to shop online from capi.com.au and through Amazon.
