Chandon Australia has released its first 100% estate grown sparkling wine.
Crafted methode traditionelle, Chandon Vintage Brut 2015, contains fruit sourced exclusively from the winery's three estate vineyards in Strathbogie, Whitlands and its winery home in the Yarra Valley.
Winemaking Director Dan Buckle said: “The Chandon Vintage Brut 2015 is a true expression of Chandon’s focus on vintage tier wines, allowing the season to shine in a bottle.
“Having full control and ownership over the fruit sourcing of Chandon’s vintage tier wines, and a true understanding of the intricate detail of the vine history, allows for the greatest precision in winemaking.”
Chandon Vintage Brut 2015 was crafted over four years resulting in a wine resonant of the Chandon style, alongside characteristics typical of a regional Victorian sparkling.
Buckle said: “Viticulture has been an essential aspect contributing to the craftsmanship reflective of Chandon Vintage Brut. As initial custodians of the grapes, our viticulturalist Dan Dujic and his team ensure the premium quality of the fruit by nurturing the vines with meticulous care ensuring optimum flavour characteristics are developed.
“There is endless fascination in the delicate differences between each vineyard and we are proud to see these remarkable resources deliver truly world-class fruit with distinctive regional character.”
Chandon Vintage Brut 2015 shows aromas of pink grapefruit, citrus zest, white peach and hazelnut. It matches well with roast chicken, fresh oysters or sashimi.
Chandon Vintage Brut, 750ml, $35 RRP, is available to purchase online or from the cellar door in the Yarra Valley.
