Proprietor of Claymore Wines and self-confessed fan, Anura Nitchingham, said he is incredibly excited about the partnership.
“We see this partnership as a relationship that runs deep. Whether it’s football or wine, passion is the key and I’m sure there will be a successful meeting of minds through our partnership with the club", Nitchingham said.
Nitchingham's love of the team began when he lived in Liverpool a few years ago and now back in Australia, he is always looking for ways to connect his business with his passion. One such way Nitchingham found was to name a number of Claymore's wines after the team, such as the YNWA "The Boot Room" Shiraz and You'll Never Walk Along Grenache Shiraz Mataro and Sauvignon Blanc.
"I'm proud to say I'm a fan", Nitchingham added.
Members of Claymore Wine Club will have the opportunity to purchase these wines. As part of the deal, members will also have the chance to win a trip for two to the home of Liverpool Football Club in Anfield in the UK.
LFC Chief Commercial Officer, Billy Hogan, said the partnership will enable Australian fans to enjoy their passion for football in a new way.
"I'm delighted to welcome them on board for the next three seasons. Our fan base is so strong in Australia and...we're all really looking forward to great activity for our Australian fans and a fruitful relationship with our partner", Hogan said.
The partnership between Claymore Wines and LFC was officially launched last week, when Liverpool Legends Ian Rush and Luis Garcia were in Australia for the LFC Legends Match. Both Rush and Garcia met with local fans, media and friends at the Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel to make a toast.
Robert Stambolziev and Matt Jurman from the A League’s Sydney FC also attended the launch as official ambassadors for the LFC NSW Supporters Club. Stombolziev trained alongside Garcia at Panathinaikos, Greece in 2010 and the pair were reunited for the afternoon over a quick glass of Claymore wine.
