The new series is being released under Coopers' existing Thomas Cooper label and includes an amber ale, American pale ale and American Indian pale ale (IPA).
"The Thomas Cooper range comprises high quality pure malted barley extracts, each with its own specifically matched yeast blend and are designed to be used with additional brewing adjuncts to replicate the bolder characters and flavours associated with craft beers", Coopers Marketing Manager, Brewing Products, Scott Harris said.
"A good example of this is the Brew A IPA, which has a significant level of both bittering and aromatic hops matched with west coast style yeast and when made as directed, will give a higher alcohol by volume (ABV) level, extra hoppy IPA typical of the north west USA craft breweries."
Mr. Harris said the range is designed to encourage experimentation by experienced DIY brewers who want to further develop the brews into their own unique craft beer styles.
Each named after an iconic event in Thomas Cooper's life, the full range now includes the 86 Days Pilsner, Devils Half Ruby Porter, Bootmaker Pale Ale, Brew A IPA, Preachers HefeWheat, InnKeepers Daughter Sparkling Ale and Family Secret Amber Ale.
TheFamily Secret Amber Ale is a deep copper, mid-bodied ale with a biscuit-malt palate that's balanced by coffee caramel sweetness and a nutty finish. The Bootmaker (American style) Pale Ale has toffee malt flavours with citrus/pine hope aromas, while the Brew A (American) IPA has tropical citrus/grapefruit notes and flavours of toasty amber malt.
The extracts are available directly from Coopers and retail for around $22.
