The philosophy at De Bortoli is that great wines begin in the vineyard. With a commitment to sustainable winemaking, De Bortoli’s winery and vineyard in Bilbul has received the Sustainable Winegrowing Australia certification, a testament to the family’s desire to leave a positive legacy for future generations.

Organic farming accentuates flavour in other natural produce such as fruits and vegetables, and it is the same for wine too. Wines made from organically grown grapes have more intense and evocative flavours. As of 2020, 6.2% of De Bortoli’s Riverina vineyards are organic with the goal of increasing to 10% in 2025.

With a vision for a future where great wine and a healthy environment can be enjoyed by everyone, De Bortoli has released its first Organic Shiraz. Handcrafted from the Hemley vineyard in Riverina, which has met the Australian Certified Organic standards, each grape that was picked to make the 2020 De Bortoli Organic Shiraz Field Blend is instrumental for the varietal purity. De Bortoli’s journey in sustainability to ultimately be a “Zero Waste Wine Company'' is shown through the Organic Shiraz, which is packaged in lightweight recycled bottles and is vegan friendly.
