De Bortoli’s 2022 Rosé Rose has put Australian Rosé on the map, placing in the top 10 at the Global Rosé Masters awards and garnering the title of Rosé Master for their outstanding expression.
The Global Rosé Masters competition, hosted by The Drinks Business, is the UK’s biggest annual Rosé-only blind tasting competition.
Honourees in the Top 10 Rosé Master list were mainly from traditional Rosé producing regions - Provence, Camargue and Languedoc, to name a few, with the De Bortoli entry being the only winner from a new world wine producer.
Leanne De Bortoli, Manager of the De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate, along with her winemaker husband Steve Webber, said she’s thrilled with the results as it cements De Bortoli’s forward-thinking vision.
“We are thrilled with this outstanding win for Rosé Rose, which acknowledges the pioneering of the Rosé Revolution in Australia and sharing our version of a pale, dry rosé with the world,” she said.
De Bortoli came away from the competition with other medals, including Gold for their La Boheme Dry Rosé, The De Bortoli Petit Moscato, and Bronze for their DB Family Selection Rosé. These awards are in addition to other recent accolades, including a Winery Innovator of the Year trophy at the IWSC for their unique Rosé Rosé packaging.
Since its inception in 2018, the De Bortoli Rosé Rosé, with its intense aromas of peach and pomegranate and a textural savoury dry finish, has played a critical role in establishing both De Bortoli’s international notability but also, more broadly, Australia’s credibility as a Rose producer in a category dominated by European wines.
