This Deep Woods shiraz has just picked up five trophies at the 2019 Perth Royal Wine Awards.
The 2018 Reserve Block 7 Shiraz, which is priced at $50 and available from November 1, took out Best Wine of Show, Best Western Australian Wine, Best Red Table Wine, Best Western Australian Dry Red Table Wine and Best Shiraz.
The second wine to shine was the Deep Woods 2017 Single Vineyard Cabernet Malbec (RRP $40), which won the Trophy for Best Single Vineyard Red or White Varietal.
The wine was also awarded the Trophy for Best Blended Red at the 2019 Royal Hobart Wine Show, and the Trophy for Best Cabernet Dominant Blend at the 2019 KPMG Sydney Royal Wine Show.
Chief Winemaker Julian Langworthy said: “It’s a huge thrill to have been so successful at our own state capital wine show. The Deep Woods Reserve Block 7 Shiraz has been an amazing wine over a number of years and for a Margaret River Shiraz to triumph over the balance of Australia’s shiraz is a wonderful achievement.
“Deep Woods Estate has obviously excelled in high quality Cabernet and Chardonnay over a number of years, so I think it shows the dedication of our growers, viticulturist, cellar staff and winemakers that we can also win the biggest of prizes with our flagship Shiraz.”
The win follows a Deep Woods shiraz taking out a wine trophy and Gold at the first awards show for 2019 - the $15 Cabernet Shiraz.
The Deep Woods 2017 Ebony Cabernet Shiraz won Best Shiraz/Cabernet Blend Wine of Show at the Royal Queensland Wine Show.
