Currently run by direct descendants of the founder, Delamain dates back to the very birth of Cognac in 1972 and is now acclaimed for their pure style in creating top-level cognac. Their strict requirements, including the spirits used to be six years old at their youngest, make Delamain specialists in the ageing and maturing process.
Each year Delamain releases its vintage blends. Created from one season, one cask and one vineyard, the Cognacs are extremely limited.
This year sees the 1966 Cognac produced in 220 bottles worldwide. The benchmark of age and quality, the 1966 is produced from grapes harvested in 1966, from a vineyard situated in Saint-Fort-sur-le-Né in the Grande Champagne region. The Cognac showcases floral aromas as well as candied oranges, spices rancio and roasted coffee.
The 1976 cognac has been produced in 260 bottles worldwide. This vintage is produced from grapes harvested in 1976, from a vineyard situated in Verrières in the Grande Champagne region. Aged in a well-seasoned oak cask, aromas of prunes, marzipan and leather are present with a round finish.
Both of the vintage Cognac releases are being offered to Australia strictly in limited numbers – 12 of each to be exact - making this release an incredibly rare milestone for Cognac aficionados.
