Angus McPherson, Managing Director of Diageo Australia, will leave the drinks giant at the end of September to pursue a career opportunity outside the company.

McPherson joined Diageo in his current role in 2020. Over the past three years, he has been instrumental in growing the business, with sales of Diageo's Reserve and Super Deluxe portfolio almost doubling under his leadership.

John O'Keeffe, President of Diageo Asia Pacific, said the whole Australian team would miss McPherson, but all wish him every success in his next adventure.

"Through his unwavering commitment to create a high-performing organisation, Angus has fostered a team that embodies passion, determination and resilience. This was particularly evident during the COVID-19 lockdowns and one of his proudest moments was working alongside Diageo Australia colleagues to support our customers through the Raising the Bar initiative," he said.

Throughout his tenure, McPherson was instrumental in advancing the interests of Australia's growing spirits industry, holding industry leadership roles with Spirits and Cocktails Australia and DrinkWise.

McPherson also made significant strides to build a more inclusive and diverse workplace at Diageo, including the launch of industry-leading policies, such as the full superannuation payment for employees who take 52 weeks of family leave.

McPherson said he was particularly proud of how he and his team handled the challenges associated with the pandemic.

"It has been an absolute privilege to work at Diageo. The team's resilience and passion for the business and its brands, particularly as we managed the challenges of COVID, is something I am incredibly proud of," said McPherson.

A successor to the role has yet to be announced.
