Woolworths Group CEO, Brad Banducci, said the results were positive, "in a very competitive market."
Endeavour Drinks Group also reported growth in Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) by 3 per cent, from $469.6 million in FY15 to $483.8 million in FY16.
The Group's Dan Murphy's and BWS business also recorded positive growth through the year.
"Dan Murphy's retained its market leading Net Promoter Score (NPS) with BWS also showing a strong improvement over the year. Sales per square metre increased by 0.7 per cent, driven by the increase in comparable sales," the Group said.
Eleven new Dan Murphy's stores were opened through the year, which delivered good results for the Group. Dan Murphy's online experienced double digit sales growth and My Dan Murphy's grew to 1.7 million members by the end of the year.
BWS also reported positive comparable sales growth, particularly in the second half of the financial year, driven by a renewed focus on the business' value. Through the year, 56 new BWS stores were opened and 24 closed.
