The Great Australiasian Beer Spectapular (GABS) is calling all craft marketers to enter the 2023 GABS Can Design Awards.

For the fourth year running, the awards, presented by Orora in partnership with Opal Specialty Packaging and Bintani, will celebrate the artistry of craft beer can design. 

In a competitive market, can design is proving more important than ever, elevating the humble tinnie from utilitarian receptacle to artistic canvas, challenging brewery creatives to captivate attention and stand out from the crowd. 

Bringing to life the narrative of the delicious beer inside, designs will be displayed in a digital art gallery where beer lovers will be asked to select their favourite three designs in a people’s choice vote. An esteemed panel of industry experts will then judge the top ten to finalise the winners.

The best design will win $1,000 in cash, and the brewery will receive the prestigious Orora golden can trophy, a set of Orora printing plates and one ton of malt from leading ingredients supplier, Bintani. An additional $5,000 worth of prizes from Opal Specialty Packaging will be shared among the top ten finalists.

Key dates include:

  • Design Submissions: before 30 July here
  • People’s Choice Voting: 4 August to 20 August via the people’s choice voting platform
  • Expert Panel Review: 28 August to 3 September
  • Winner Announcement: 8 September via all GABS marketing channels

The awards are open for all beers released after 2 October 2022. Breweries can submit their designs now at www.gabshub.com
