Festival bar management, licensing and major event company Wats On Events has diversified into alcohol delivery to survive COVID-19.

Wats On Events describes the new business - called Boozi - as its "road to survival".

“If there’s one thing our team has always been passionate about its good booze, good times and great service," said founder Michael Watson. "So when the coronavirus crisis hit, wiping out our core industry, it made sense to pour our love and resources into creating an alcohol delivery service.

"We may no longer be able to create unique experiences, but we can still deliver the goods to the people of Sydney."

Boozi will initially service within a 15km radius of the Sydney CBD, to Pymble in the North, Bexley in the South, Bondi in the East and Sydney Olympic Park in the West and everywhere in between.

Customers can choose from three delivery options including, ‘Pronto’ offering delivery within the hour with your beverages chilled, ‘Same Day’ service and ‘Anytime’, allowing a choice of date and preferred time.

Orders will include the chance to rock off with the driver. A best out of three games, if you beat the driver you will win an instant prize and a discount on your next Boozi order. Of course, social distancing rules will apply.

The national shutdown of bars, pubs and clubs has led to a huge increase in alcohol home delivery during COVID-19.

Retail Drinks Australia chief executive Julie Ryan said one national retailer’s deliveries were up 300% from December to March, while the size of the average order had increased by 50%.
