John Freeman, former General Manager of Delegat Group in Australia, has been appointed as CEO of Nugan Estate. Freeman has been enlisted to help drive growth for the family-owned Australian wine business.

Over the last fifteen years, with the active involvement of family members Matthew and Tiffany Nugan, the estate has grown to become one of Australia's Top 20 Wine Brands and Top 20 Exporters in volume and value. The family anticipates significant growth for the business over the next few years and with Freeman's help, will drive and invest further into its brands at home and around the world.

“We believe in the Australian wine industry and that its reinvention at higher price points around the world is the key to its success. As a family, we are focussed on building our brand and people.

"While we have established a strong footprint, we believe the next five years will be a period of growth for family businesses such as ours who are responsive to consumer needs, quality focussed and invest in their brands, people and the Australian wine industry", Michelle Nugan, Matriarch of the Nugan family said.

At Delegat Group, Freeman was responsible for driving the Oyster Bay brand to become the number one selling wine in Australia. Prior to joining the wine industry, John worked extensively in financial services, developing a strong understanding of the financial levers to drive sustainable profitable growth.

“John is a long term player and brings to Nugan Estate a great passion for leadership, business development and professionalism. We see John as the long term leader of Nugan Estate, enabling our good business and our great people to evolve and grow into an even better business. This is going to be a very exciting new chapter for our company, our brand and our people", Michelle Nugan added.
