Launched by wine expert John Quinn and Lindt Australia CEO Steve Loane, the pair have assembled a virtual ‘Dream Team’ of Australia’s most decorated winemakers. “Our talent has excelled with Lindeman’s, Penfolds, Hardy’s, Houghton’s, Orlando, Rosemount, Seppelt, Tyrrell’s -the list goes on. They have typically also advised in the ‘old world’ wine regions of France, Italy and Germany. So career-wise they are all on top of their game”.
Winemakers include Tasmania’s Samantha Connew who has over 15 years’ experience in winemaking with some of the most iconic wineries. Connew is this year’s Chair of Judges at the KPMG Sydney Royal Wine Show, and launched her own solo Tasmanian project, Stargazer in 2013 and consults to a select group of boutique family owned wine companies. In addition, Iconic Winemakers have Daryl Groom, former Penfolds winemaker now making a mark in the US, and former Hardy’s senior winemaker Larry Cherubino on board.
Quinn is proud of the exceptional wines Australian winemakers are producing and highlights them with the selection at Iconic Wines. Whether it’s a value volume label or small batch hands on limited offering, Australians consistently produce wines that are highly sought after by consumers worldwide.
Quinn further explained the market for Iconic Winemakers. “Discounted wines, old label clearances or pushing mixed dozens to move dormant stock is not us. What makes Iconic Winemakers unique is that we’re driven by quality, not a price point”. Iconic Winemakers is free to subscribe to and there are no obligations or compulsory delivery cycles.
The wines from Iconic Winemakers will range from $20-75 and will introduce new winemakers regularly.
